Born Under Ophiuchus - the orphan sign of the new zodiac

Ophiuchus is a constellation located in SQ3 quadrant, bordering some other constellations like Scorpion and Sagittarius in the south and Aquila, Serpent and Hercules in Milky Way. Ophiuchus belongs to the series of Hercules constellations. Its place is north of ecliptic, the path of the sun through the twelve constellations.  

The constellation of Ophiuchus has been observed long time ago but it is not clear yet who saw it and/or name it first.

Despite the early knowledge, Ophiuchus was not included in traditional western zodiac. Today, after much discussion, there is a serious possibility that Ophiuchus will be part of our daily life.

Here is why:

Calculated upon one year of apparent motion of the sun on the sky, this zodiac has been in use for 2000 years in Europe and North America. It was first introduced by astronomer Claudius Ptolemy in 2nd century AD.

It is calculated upon the position of the planets on the sky in contras with other stars. It is as old as Western Zodiac and used by everybody else in the world. Also, it is more accurate in comparison with the Western one.

So, let us explore this constellation and its attributes and see what kind of fortune it may bring to the people born under the sign of Ophiuchus.

Since the new zodiac have made its appearance, the dates of the 12 horoscope signs have shifted and a new sign, Ophiuchus, have been introduced. The new sign have been placed between Scorpio and Sagittarius, or November 29 and December 17.

Confused and frustrated, people are still wondering under which star they were born. The answer to this question is a matter of individual choice. You may want to stick with the old zodiac and then you are Sagittarius, or you may dare to go for the new zodiac, which case you are Ophiuchus.

I have checked few astrology sites to see if the astrologers have yet developed a solid description of this new zodiacal sign. It was very disappointing to see the same attributes copied all over the net. However, here is a short portrait written in 2009 on a Romanian website, in my own translation:

"People born under the sign of Ophiuchus have healing powers, they are dream tellers, they have the gift of premonition. They are lucky, friendly, talented, romantic but wise, intuitive and inventive. They could gather a crowed around them but they seek peace and harmony.

They like to learn as much as they can and often they make good scientists, doctors and even astrologers. They excel in show business. They attract people of power but they make enemies among relatives or close co-workers. Sometimes they are undecided, hence could fall under a bad influence.

The number 12 plays a major role in their lives They are compatible with the natives of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Scorpio. They should avoid the natives of Aquarius, Pisces, Taurus, Leo, and Virgo." elystar.ro

Except for Japan where Ophiuchus have become popular once Walter Berg have published his bestseller book "The 13 signs of the zodiac" in 1996, the other countries have ignored the new astrological zodiac.

With so little information about the 13th sign and considering that the astrologers do not want to adopt it, the life of an Ophiuchus could be rather boring. No daily predictions, no love compatibilities, no lucky lottery numbers. All one could get is the number of road accidents that may happen between November 29 and December 17.

It is said that one in twenty person is an Ophiuchus. With so many millions of Ophiuchi that may want to claim their sign one day, the astrologers better be ready!
